Retail Jeweler Shot In Front Of Home

Riverside, CA – November 20, 2008
Reported by the Jewelers Security Alliance

At 7:30 p.m. a retail jeweler was shot four times and critically wounded by two robbers in front of his home. The suspects escaped with jewelry and gold in a stolen car which was later recovered. A police dog later found a handgun in a park and some clothing nearby. Anyone with information is asked to call Riverside Police Detective Mike Medici at 951-353-7104.

RECOMMENDATION: When retailers take goods home, they are also bringing an additional risk of robbery and violence to their home. JSA advises retail jewelers to leave their goods in their safe at their store overnight rather than bringing goods home.
